- Motorcycle builders, here is a ? for you...?
First off, I have to tell you I know absolutely nothing about building these machines, so if my question is a dumb one, then you at least will know why. I was watching a show on TLC last night that featured Jesse James (from Monster Garage) who apparently is now doing custom motorcycles, and who also is one of the few in the U.S who can still do hand tooling, and hand forming to custom make parts. My question is this. All the gas tanks that he did were basically a modified tear drop shape, with a few minor variations on them to make them customized. Is it possible to make a gas tank the shape of a 3-D lightning bolt? I thought it would be so cool looking, but never saw anything there that resembled one. Thanks for all your answers and have a great day.
A First off, JJ was making bikes quite a while before Monster Garage. The modified teardrop shape is the most common because it pretty much fits the space best between the bars and the seat, but any shape is possible. I can't remember who did it, but someone built a custom for Ozzy Osbourne and the tank was a 3-D cross that looked pretty slick.
