- Motorcycle in Skirt and Heels?
I've tried to take all necessary precautions when riding in a skirt and heels (details below) and am just trying to understand the real reasons why everyone thinks this is so unsafe. All I hear is that it is bad and it ends at that. I'm not riding in stilettos and mini skirts either. Can someone enlighten me so that I can make a better decision on the matter? I've been riding for about a year now and I love it. I'm a skirt and heels kind of girl though and always have been. Right now I ride in a pair of vintage boots that are made from a good thick leather (better than some motorcycle boots out there) and they do have a nice 3" heel on them, something that I feel even helps me in my riding since I know exactly where my foot is on the peg at all times and they've helped me keep my feet in place during one or two gravel slips. Now that my custom boots are coming in finally I'll be riding in over the knee boots (custom tailored to riding) and knee length skirts of medium to thick fabric (equal to jeans). Now, I feel that I've taken the proper precautions for around town riding. My shoes are thick and resistant to heat. They are sturdy and have a thick rubber sole. The skirts are about as thick as the jeans of the men I ride with. Is there something I'm missing? I understand that I am of limited experience and with the amount of people telling me how unsafe this all is I have to wonder if there is something else to it. To add a few more details: The rubber soles do have good grip, a part of the customized order. It's a grip similar to my current pair which I have used to stop on everything from a painted line to thick gravel. I have found no problem with the grip. The heels are fairly well reinforced and shouldn't snap, but if they do, I always carry a pair of running shoes in any vehicle I own for various reasons and will have no problem picking up the heel and riding my bike off to a safe location to change. As for holding the skirt down. I haven't permanently decided on the system, but the general idea was a garter system to the boots since it is easy to install to all my skirts and the boots themselves. I'm not planning on every riding highway or fast roads in a skirt because it comes untucked and flaps. I have gone down once before when a car pulled over on me and yes, I know road rash hurts. It hurt in jeans. It'll hurt worse in a skirt, but going 30-40 mph the jeans won't save my life. Good point about the stockings and nylons. Thank you Easygoin. I do a little fire dancing and should have applied the knowledge that nylons melt much too easily to my knowledge about riding safely. I haven't worn them on the bike yet, and I'll remember not to be tempted next time I'm running late for a meeting.
A you have made it clear that you are going to wear what you want no matter what anyone says. It is you skin if you want it covered when you hit the road then wear jeans if you don't care then wear the skirt. We are all told that leather is the best to protect are skin in the event of a fall. But I don't ride around wearing chaps and a jacket all day. Just like the rest of the riders out there I where a tee and jeans. what is a tee saving me from not a thing. My bet is some of these "riders" have roded in shorts and flip flops.

- I want to wear my boots on a motorcycle but...?
I brought these awesome boots that go up to below my knee and were custom cut to fit my legs but because i brought them internationally they fit like a glove and don't fit with normal American "boot cut" jeans and while abroad I had to buy jeans specifically to fit inside the boot. These jeans as you can imagine fit like a glove as well and ride low on my waist (they aren't as trashy as i know it sounds). Point being is standing around or sitting on a couch no big deal to wear whatever shirt with them but I am going on a causal date with a guy (who I've been out with before and can't wait to see again) and I want to wear my boots but the jeans like i said aren't really tight that is until I try to get in and out of my jeep wrangler for example. I can't even imagine getting on and off a motorcycle not to mention having no doubt my crack hanging out to everyone going by. I was thinking about the other times that i've worn my boots with something else but it was always with a skirt and I can't wear that on a motorcycle either. Then maybe trying as hard as i can with the jeans to get on and putting a sweater wrap around my waist. I dunno any help appreciated. Again they are brown boots normal toe 3/4 inch of solid heel no decorations or buckles beads or nobs on them. What should i wear with them? Or do I have to scrap the whole sexy boots idea? i will look into that if you say so but im not sure that fits nor does it fit with my style i am most comfortable in a polo and or anything that goes with that preppy sheek look. but thanks for the suggestion ill look into it.
A have you ever considered bermudas? they are short enough that they won't bother with your boots, but make sure to get them in a mid to high rise. It looks better on the bod than u think AND there won't be a showing of anything. hope this helps!

Charger Boots

Sidi Charger Boots Sidi, continuously researching new technological solutions to enhance rider safety, is proud to present the Charger boot. With Sidi's great style, feel, support and quality there are no finer performance off road boots in the world. Heel Detail: Three extended ribs are featured at the back of the boot to assist the rider in making upshifts with his heel when starting a race. Rigid, shock resistant, anatomically shaped heel for maximum protection. Non-Bootie Designs: Sidi boots do not incorporate inner booties into their design, and for good reason. Booties make the design larger and cumbersome; add to the boot's thickness, which interferes with shifting, plus the inner booties retain body heat affecting the rider's performance and comfort. Single Flex System: Utilized on the Charger boot the Single Flex System offers the rider free movement forward and backward while limiting its side to side deflection thus offering the rider maximum comfort and strength. Buckles: Sidi's exclusive cam-lock buckle system is acknowledged as the finest system on the planet. It must be as most of Sidi's competitors have attempted to copy various aspects of it. The cam-lock buckle system incorporates a strap memory retention system. Adjust the straps once and they will be at the same position for every ride after that! No more readjusting for every ride or mid-day during a ride. Toe Areas: The tip of the toe on the Charger boots are covered with plastic to protect the base material and seems against abrasion from brush etc. Plastic shift and brake lever guards on the top of each foot area. Heat Shields: Each Sidi boot is equipped with an anti-heat undressed leather protection panel at the same height of most motorcycle's exhaust heat shields. Replaceable Parts: Every bolt on component of each Sidi off road boot is available separately. Riders can change the various components to replace items that have worn or have been damaged in a crash or to make a custom colored boot to match his/her personal taste. Composite Insole: Sidi is the only manufacture to use a composite insole that is anatomically shaped to the rider. A cushioned liner is provided that can be removed if the rider desires a more roomy fit. Sidi does not use steel shanks riveted to its insole like most manufactures, details such as this enable Sidi boots to enjoy a multi year service life versus the competitors multi month lifespan as over time, a steel shank can deteriorate, rust and fracture exposing the rider to injury. Currently Sidi products can only be shipped to U.S. customers Lining: Cambrelle is a lining that, due to its particular polyimide structure, guarantees a rapid drying rate after the boot gets wet or sweaty. This prevents the onset of mold forming which extends the boots lifespan dramatically. The Teflon treated mesh panels in the rear calf area of the boot allow humidity to escape while the boot is in use.
