- Ideas for Sissy Bar on a custom bike?
I'm having an old school bobber (motorcycle) professionally built and it's going to look cobbled together. For example, I'm using a bent wrench for the kickstand, the gas tank has hammer dents, and it's being painted to look aged and partially rusted. The seats and bags are distressed leather. I'm looking for creative ideas for the sissy bar- an addition to the rear of a motorcycle that allows the rider or passenger to recline against it while riding. Keeping consistent with the theme of weathered and thrown together from junk lying around, what can I use for a sissy bar? Not asking this in Auto because mechanical knowledge is irrelevant. I'm more concerned with artistry here.
A That sounds like a wicked idea for a bike! The first thing that came to mind was some kind of replica hammer so that the head of the hammer acts as a back rest for the pillion. Depending on how crazy you want to go, you could use a hex wrench looking thing so the top of the cross can be padded and leaned against while the horizontal sections can be held if they wanted. You could go more traditional looking and bend up some old mottled copper pipe into an inverted U shape and attack a pad to that.. The verdigris would really give it an awesome weathered look. I hope that fires your imagination :)

- What is a better motorcycle for me?
I am looking at buying either a Harley Nightster 1200cc or a Triumph Thunderbird 1600cc, both are 2012's. I want a bike to go touring on with my girlfriend and I have about 15 years of riding experience. With both bikes I will need to add extras such as a sissy bar and custom seat if not more. I've rode mainly Honda's and Suzuki's my whole life and want a bike that rides similiar if possible. Any suggestions are welcome, thanks.
