FAQ - Customer Questions - New Custom Motorcycle Part Reviews
- What do you call this custom motorcycle part?
When you build a motorcycle with a fat rear wheel, you need to extend a sprocket outwards to match the new chain line. WHAT DO YOU CALL THIS PART or PRODUCT??? and... WHERE CAN I FIND ONE? It has bearings on it, and a shaft/axle.
A It's called a spacer and it fits between the hub and sprocket and has nothing to do with the axle and bearing. You can also buy a sprocket with offset built into it. Try Custom Chrome or Drag Specialties. You also want to get a wheel with a wider hub to compensate for the width of the rim. You usually need to use a combination of parts to pull it off correctly, no one piece will fix it unless you are just going up one or two sizes in tire width.

- Custom part for a motorcycle?
I'm looking to get a custom part for my brother's bike for his birthday. He has a Harley Dyna Sportsbob bike. I want to get him a "legacy points cover".....but I'm not sure it will work on his bike or if it's "culturally" appropriate to put an Indian Larry points cover on a new Harley??? 1. Can a custom points cover go on the bike? What do I need to know about the bike or the part before ordering? 2. Is it okay within the harley and custom chopper communities to have an Indian Larry custom logo part on a new Harley??? I don't know much about bikes and don't know if the part can even go on his bike. Thanks for any help in advance! I aske the second question because I was wondering if it's "sacreligious" to place a old-time, chopper designer's logo on a new Harley.
A You will need to know the year of the bike. because there are two different engines. If it is a new bike then it is a "twin cam" There is nothing wrong with having a Legacy part on a new Harley. most start with small parts to customize it to make it their own. If you need it quick contact JP cycles by phone they will help you as well as send a catalog for free that has all kinds of parts and apparel.
