- I want to build a Harley engine where can i find a complete kit?
Im not looking for kits to increase cubes or build a stroker i just want the entire engine completely disassembled. i understand that there wouldnt be a warranty due to the possibility of incorrect assembly etc. im poor and am hoping to save money on bike parts, plus building it would be the best part. Ive looked on the Web but no luck also any brand of harley "clone" would be perfect i have mechanical ability but not the experience to know which parts to buy or what combos work well HELP

- do harleys vibrate out engine parts?
I am looking at an electroglide but I dont want to buy something that wont last over 70,000 miles. I have heard that harleys are problematic? in what ways?
A You heard that or you read that here from the Harley hating twits(you know who you are) that spout their crap without really having a clue about the facts?Here is the truth as i see it and i have no reason to lie since i could really care less what you decide to ride.Motorcycles are purpose built.If you wanted a bike that can run 170MPH you wouldn't be looking at an Electraglide.It's true that a Harley is by no stretch of the imagination a high horsepower bike.But they don't leak oil and litter the streets with parts that fall off.They do vibrate(especially at idle) but with the rubber mounted engine you can ride them all day long.They do have a few things that i don't care for as far as engineering.Worst is the chain drive cam system on the twin cams and the high rear cylinder heat caused by lean burn epa regs(both fixable,the high heat problem very cheaply).But there is nothing that can't be cured down the road(and that will be many miles first).My everyday ride is a 2002 Electraglide Classic.In 02 when i bought it i put 4,000 into the engine to make it perform the way i wanted making it a 22,000 buck bike(not cheap but that's what i wanted so i didn't care).But it will do a wheelie if i want it too.Not bad for a full dress Harley!I don't care it won't go a 150mph.It's plenty fast though.And you can load your saddle bags and tour pack and strap a bag on top of that,plus the wife and still go fly up the Rocky Mountains fast enough to put a big grin on your face.Oh and nothing has ever fallen off it.It is an old engine design for sure.But that is one of it's appeals to me.I ride an old 1956 Panhead too that i wouldn't trade for anything new made today.
