- Who sells the fairings for Harley Davidsons as seen in Sturgis 2009?
We went to the huge extravaganza in Rapid City, SD during Sturgis of 2009 held at the Harley Davidson store located there. There was a company there that made fairings that are detachable...I believe they ran about $1500 depending on the model. At the time they did not have ones to fit the HD Street Bob, however they thought they would be out in approx. 6-7 months. I am looking for the name of this company. Any help would be appreciated...Thank you!!!

- How would you mount fairings on a chopper?
I have a custom chopper. 107 harley motor. Santee rigid frame. Looking at adding some accesories to it. * I ran across a gsxr(crotch rocket) chopper. www.sportbikez.net/ picture/4869/suzuki_gsxr or google "gsxr chopper" "r1 chopper". I like the fairings of the street bike on the chopper. * I'm not looking for, "wtf would you do that for?" "That looks like crap," or opinions on my taste. * I'm looking for any of the techs to let me know what I would need/look for to attatch a fairing similar. What could I use to prevent melting/over heating of the fairing? What size fairing would be customizable? What about vibrations? * Thanks in advance!
A you would have to fabricate brackets of some sort. p-clamps might be best to attach to the frame. use rubber washers and fender washers to attach the plastic to the brackets. shrouding an air cooled motor may not be real wise. some way of getting air to circulate through the fairing and over the engine and back out again is a MUST.your going to have to measure your frame and then perhaps hit a salvage yard to find a fairing that fits your taste.you may want to look at some 1950's and 60s road race style bikes, and their fairings. maybe even into the 70's . back then all the fairings were made to fit frames that didn't originally have them, so the ideas they use then should be helpful today. google things like motorcycle race fairings or motorcycle bodies.some early racers called them bodies,a term you don't hear much any more.there are some cool harley bodies used for drag racing you might like too.you may want to learn to do some fiber-glassing yourself, its easy, and kinda fun too.
