FAQ - Customer Questions - Honda Motorcycle Battery Charger Reviews
- 1980 honda 400 AT motorcycle that a battery charger with a booster start was use to try to start it?
tried to start the motorcycle with the booster charger on high, but it was put on wrong [hot to ground and negative to postive post], I replace the battery but still have no lights or power when I turn the key on. Did he burn out something, or blow a fuse or something some, I cannot seem to find the problem thanks for any help I can get on this Andy
A Yes there is a master fuse somewhere in there.Follow the red lead off the battery they are usually located by the starter solenoid. But on some of the older models the main fuse was mixed right in with the others.

- Motorcycle battery question. Honda CB550 1974.?
I just got a new battery for my 1974 Honda CB550 four. The instuction seem like rocket science to me. I thought I was going to be able to just throw in the new battery and ride off. Now I have all these complicated steps. Its a 12N9 4B1 battery. The battery acid is seperate in the box. What am I supposed to do? I have never worked with BATTERY ACID before and it freaks me out a little bit. What should I do? Do I need to charge it? Do I need a motorcycle battery charger? Why is this so complicated? Thanks, Ed
A Fill the battery to the line on the side with the acid. Let it sit for about an hour. Charge the battery, at 1 amp for 10 hours, or 2 amps for about 4-5 hours. Any 12 Volt charger with a low charge rate will work. After charging, check the level in the battery. Install the battery in the bike. When checking/filling later, use only distilled water to top off. Batteries have an indefinite shelf life when stored dry.
