- Can Motorcycles Trigger Red Light Cameras & Speed Radars?
I ride a 250cc Honda Rebel so it very light. I seem to find myself not registering 50% of lights. Does this mean that I wouldn't register a red light camera? Or are they motion sensors? Also Cop Radars Can a motorcycle speed be caught by a gun radar? Like I said my bike is very small. Thank you
A Around HERE, red light cams are radar operated, so there may not be enough mass for it to get a good reflection and read your speed, but do you want to risk it?? The traffic lights operate by sensing your presence over a "field" which is embedded in the pavement. (different type system) How about driving safe and sane, then you don't have to worry about it??????

- UK Help with speeding ticket defence?
Last week I travelled 100 miles to Stoke on Trent to pick up my new motorcycle after my last one (honda CG125) was stolen and written off About 20 miles into my journey back I got clocked by two speed cameras doing 37 and 47 both in 30mph zones (old owner just received tickets in post). This was my first time on the bike and as it was a completely different style of bike(racing trials style), alot more powerful (still a 125cc though) compared to my little old CG, had a completely different sound (wich I used to listen to to get a good estimate of my speed) and the gears were completely different (on my CG I would be topping out at 30mph in 3rd gear) The issue with this bike was that the speedometer was faulty and so the previous owner had fitted it with one from a pushbike that (as I later found out) was not properly calibrated and not at all even slightly accurate after about 25mph. I had to estimate my speed for the 120 mile journey home by using the traffic as my marker and not doing ANY overtaking, I will of been clocked breaking the limit on an empty road.... Later on the A64 back from leeds on the home stretch it said i was doing 30mph yet I was keeping up with the traffic on the road and not being overtaken at all.... I owned the bike for 3 days before I was Kicked off it by a gang and had it set on fire =[ Is there any chance of me having (at least the 37mph) ticket waved? Im riding on a provisional licence and have been told that if i get 6 points I can no longer ride my bike for two years, is this true? Please help? Mat **Correction** Written off.(<
A Faulty speedo is no defence so you will not get out of it. 6 points in 2 years after getting your first full uk licemce means that licence will be revoked and you go back to being a learner. As you only have a provisional you will just have 6 points and if you get 12 within a 3 year period then you are disqualified from holding a licence for anything for a year at least. When this is all sorted you will have a valid provisional licence with 6 points, be a little wiser and have a lot lighter wallet after fines of at least £120 total YOU WILL STILL HAVE THE LICENCE AND WILL STILL BE ABLE TO RIDE
