- how to put timing belt on 1976 honda goldwing motorcycle?
I have shop manuel not that clear

A --Turn the crankshaft by the generator bolt. not the pully bolt. --#1 piston @TDC (right front cylinder). --The timing marks on the L&R pulleys point away from each other. There's a timing mark on the cover. --If you've already removed the timing belts, don't turn anything. There's a possibility of bending some valves. --It's a fairly simple, straight forward opperation. If your still having problems, contact me. Include you email address and specific details of the problem, steps you've already taken, position of all timing marks (L&R pulleys, crankshaft).

- Can a belt drive be used on an older motorcycle?
I have a 1982 Honda CM450A. I'm going to need a new chain as well as both cogs soon anyway and I really want to keep the bike much longer since the engine and transmission are in immaculate shape. Is it possible to buy belt drive components for an older bike? Or is the idea just crazy? lol

A Yes, there are retofit parts. I doubt that you will find the right combination for that bike. Even if you could, it would be a lot more expensive than a new chain and sprockets. The new sprockets would be as easy to install as just changing a part ('cause that's all it is). With the belt conversion, you'll have a lot of work to do. Starting by figuring out what you need. Chain drive is simple, reliable, and relatively easy to maintain. Belt drive is more critical in it's alignment and tension. Personally, I think you're much better off keeping the chain. I've had chain, shaft and belt - and I prefer chain for a number of reasons. One of those bikes was a CM400A, and I really can't see the point of a swap.
