- change carburetor in honda 450 cm motorcycle?
Can any one give me, or refer me to directions on how to change the carburetor on a honda 450 cm motorcycle. It has been stalling when idle and running fine if i crank the throttle. i'm hoping cleaning the carbs will fix this. xoxo
A You have 2 carbs, they are pretty easy to remove, but I don't have mine handy (sold it). I do know of a page that may be some help though. http://www.hondanighthawks.net/carbhelp.htm The 450 Nighthawk is quite similar to the CM 450.

Black Ice Carburetor Shield

Black Ice incorporates the latest in thermal tuning technology. The product line includes a series of carbon fiber-based heat shields that provide a simple and inexpensive way to increase horsepower in your 4-stroke without major engine modifications. Black Ice H/S is a line of carburetor heat shields available for your Big-Bore (and Pit-Bike). By shielding the carburetor from the hot mid-section of your header pipe, your carburetor will remain cooler providing more fuel through the same size jet The combination of denser air and cooler fuel can therefore combine to generate more horsepower even in a stock engine. Two of Team Subways’ Honda CRF450’s were measured at the end of the 1st 250cc moto at Southwick in 2004. The carburetor temps were over 200° F cooler with Black Ice H/S installed **Closeouts are limited to stock on hand**
