- Motorcycle fuel pump bad?
I have a 1983 Honda Magna V45 that I am fixing. I have replaced the fuel system except for the fuel pump. (lines, filter, cleaned carbs) I don't get any fuel to the carburetor or the fuel pump for that matter.. When I unhook the line going IN to the fuel pump I can see fuel start to flow through the filter and it flows out into a bucket that I have. My question is why do I not get any flow when all lines are hooked up, but get flow when I unhook a line? The only possible thing I can think of is the fuel pump not working properly. Are there any tests that I can do to make sure? Also, when I turn the ignition ON I can hear the fuel pump click. Please let me know what you think. Thanks a lot! Should the pump make noise if it is working? I hear the click and then nothing. What does it sound like when the pump is working?
A The fuel pump should click more than once. Remove the hose coming out of the fuel pump and turn on the key. The fuel pump should run non-stop.
