- Motorcycle...what is a good sealant to use between the air cleaner housing and the air intake chamber?
1988 honda shadow vt600c vlx Haynes Manual just says to use a sealant when reinstalling the parts....don't know if there is or isn't a leak....will use one of the sealants you suggest.

A Use some black or blue automotive silicone, if you can't find that just use batroom type silicone.

- Would a K&N filter be beneficial (and ok to use) on a 900CC motorcycle with no ram air intake? ?
I have a Honda CB900F, which is the street fighter version of the 900RR. The intake on the system uses a non-forced air intake (ram air). Two part question on K&N filters for the bike. One, will the oil on the filter damage any intake parts (like the MAF sensor)? Do motorcycles even have Mass Air Flow sensors? And two, will it be beneficial as far as power and smoothness? The bike has an aftermarket exhaust. Let me know your two cents.

A First, great bike. Second, it should not damage anything, if anything it may help to preserve the valvetrain by allowing air in more easily preventing premature detonation and it would also help to ease wear on the emissions control systems. As far as power and smoothness: Given that motorcycle engines rev so much more quickly than those of cars (low displacement, high power) it would help not so much in power, but, response would be improved thanks to the fact that the engine would breathe more quickly and it would idle more smoothly thanks to such. The MAF will be fine, it is dependent only on air flow, not composition, other wise it would be choked by fog. Just, go easy on the oil when applying. Good luck bro.
