- What are the best points on a motorcycle to tie it down to a trailer?
I am using a flat bed trailer so I want to make sure my baby doesn't move at all! Should I tie down the front wheel or will it stay put by itself with the handlebar straps? Also, where on the back of the bike should I be securing the tie downs? Any info and opinions are welcome! If it matters, the drive is about 2 1/2 hours highway driving. Thanks!! It's a 360lb crusier... sorry! I didn't realize that mattered too! :-)
A not a whole lot more to add... strapping a bike down is pretty straight forward ... word of caution though... do not completely compress the front forks when tying the bike down ... this can cause pressure on the fork seals and one good rough bounce of the trailer can blow cause the seals too leak ... you didn't state what kind of bike??? but for a dirt bike, the 3 straps should be enough to secure the bike ... if a much larger street bike, I would probably opt to use two on the front as desribed above but would go with a two strap in the rear also going to the rear portion of the frame / swing-arm.

- 1992 K1500 Silverado. is there hooks in the bed to tie things down like a motorcycle?
1992 K1500 Silverado. is there hooks in the bed to tie things down like a motorcycle? I have a plastic bed liner in my truck and it is hard to remove. I am going to need to haule a dirt bike and need to know if it has thoes hooks in the bottom (L & R) sides. If it does where. I will then drill holes to expose them. Thank you for your answers. Also if you have pictures send me the links to them..
A There are no anchor points on the bed floor. The only available tie down points are at the corners of the bed (the stake pockets), so don't go drillin holes in your plastic bed liner just yet. The easiest thing would be to spread the hooks on the straps a small amount, then pass the hook through the bolt hole in the stake pockets. If you plan on hauling a bike a lot then you would benefit of adding a good anchor point in the floor of the bed.
